For us, Organic Farming has always been a way of living, since 1997, when we began at Quercia al Poggio. It was easy. Our vineyards lay in an environment that is very healthy and intact, on top of a hill at about 350 meters on the sea level, surrounded by olive groves, woods and fields. No contact with any other producer. Here Nature is free to grow in its biodiversity. A constant fresh breeze during summer allows the grape to grow healthy. We firmly believe that if we leave nature take its course, it is capable of self-adapting.
We have always blended our Sangiovese with the traditional grapes of our region, like Ciliegiolo, Canaiolo, Colorino and Malvasia Nera. These grapes are all naturally connected to their terroir. We always say that Sangiovese is for many, but not for all. It is not an easy wine, but it is elegant and amusing, never boring. Our Chianti Classico is pretty much a food wine, and with a good acidity and tannins it can be matched with most dishes and once aged, even with some juicy fish dish.
