Figli Luigi Oddero

Region:
Piedmont, Italy

Based in La Morra, in the heart of the Langhe, Figli Luigi Oddero is rooted in a family history of winemaking in Piedmont that spans over two centuries. The modern estate was founded by Luigi Oddero—a passionate oenologist—following the division of the family business in 2006. Since his passing, his wife Lena and their children, Maria and Giovanni, have continued his work and upheld the estate’s identity.

The vineyard covers approximately 32 hectares—with nearly 18 dedicated to Nebbiolo—and has been managed since 2014 according to integrated pest management principles (SNQPI certified, equivalent to *agriculture raisonnée* or sustainable farming in France). The estate primarily produces iconic Langhe wines: Barolo DOCG (notably the Specola, Rocche Rivera, and Vigna Rionda cuvées) and Barbaresco (including the remarkable Rombone), alongside Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbera d’Alba, and Dolcetto d’Alba. The winemaking style favors a traditional approach, highlighting the character of the *terroirs* and the finesse of the Nebbiolo grape.

No herbicides or synthetic chemicals are used; the soil is carefully tended, and natural methods—such as pheromone dispensers—are prioritized for vine protection when necessary. The goal is to preserve the land and allow each plot to fully express its potential. All grapes are harvested by hand, with rigorous sorting performed directly in the vineyard. Fermentation takes place using indigenous yeasts in concrete or stainless steel tanks, with extended maceration periods for the Barolo wines. Aging follows traditional methods in medium- and large-capacity oak casks, with durations tailored to each specific cuvée.
