Federico Curtaz: a Piedmontese signature in the heart of Sicily!
Born in the Aosta Valley and trained in Piedmont, Federico Curtaz is a winemaker and oenologist whose career has been shaped by extensive experience working alongside Angelo Gaja in Barbaresco. After arriving in Sicily in the early 2000s, he fell under the spell of Mount Etna and the richness of its terroirs. Having helped establish Tenuta di Fessina, he launched his own label in 2014.
Today, Federico Curtaz crafts wines with distinct character from old vineyards planted with indigenous varieties—notably Carricante and Nerello Mascalese on Etna, and Nero d’Avola in Noto. His philosophy is rooted in a simple idea: applying precise intervention while allowing the terroir to express itself fully. His wines—including Gamma, Kudos, Il Purgatorio, and Ananke—are thus conceived as a personal, elegant, and deeply authentic expression of Sicily.
